Nobody wants to talk about it. But every second home in Ajmer has this problem.

Ajmer has a cockroach problem bigger than most cities. Why? Few reasons.
First, the old areas. Kaiserganj, Naya Bazaar, streets around Dargah - these buildings are 40, 50, 60 years old. Pipes are rusted. Walls have cracks everywhere. Drainage is ancient. Perfect entry points for roaches.
Second, food everywhere. Station Road has how many restaurants? Madar Gate area is full of sweet shops and eating joints. Where there is food waste, cockroaches follow. They breed there and spread to nearby houses.
Third, humidity. Ana Sagar lake keeps this whole area humid. Cockroaches love moisture. They breed faster when conditions are damp.
And fourth - attached houses. Most Ajmer colonies have houses sharing walls. Your neighbor has roaches? Congrats, soon you will too. They travel through pipe gaps and wall cracks like its a highway.
Mostly two types cause problems here.
About 1-1.5 cm size. Light brown color with two lines on their head. These are the worst. They live inside your kitchen only. Cabinets, drawers, behind fridge, near stove. They hide during day and come out at night.
If you see German cockroaches during daytime, bad news. Means their hiding spots are so full that some cannot fit anymore. Serious infestation.
These are 3-4 cm, much larger. They can fly also. Come mostly from drains and sewers. Common in old Ajmer areas like Purani Mandi. These usually enter from outside through drains or gaps under doors.
Because cockroaches are not just ugly. They actually make you sick.
They walk through garbage, drains, sewage - then walk on your kitchen counter. On your plates. On food you left out. They spread bacteria that cause food poisoning, loose motions, stomach infections. Some people even get typhoid from cockroach contamination.
And if anyone in your family has breathing problems or asthma - cockroaches make it worse. Their droppings and dead skin cause allergic reactions. Many asthma attacks in children are triggered by cockroach allergens. This is not made up, doctors will tell you the same thing.
Check for these things:
Black pepper like spots in cabinet corners and drawer edges. That is cockroach poop. Gross but true.
Brown oval shaped things, about size of a small seed. These are egg cases. Each one has 30-40 baby roaches inside. Find these and you definitely have breeding happening.
Weird oily smell in kitchen that does not go away even after cleaning. Large cockroach populations produce this smell from their body chemicals.
See one or two roaches at night when you switch on light? Normal-ish. See them during day or see many at night? Problem is big.
We do not just spray and leave. That is useless for cockroaches.

This is the main weapon against German cockroaches. We put small dots of special gel in all hiding spots. Inside cabinet hinges. Drawer corners. Behind fridge. Under stove. Near sink pipes.
Why gel works - cockroach eats it, goes back to hiding spot, dies there. Other roaches eat the dead body (yes they do that) and they die too. Chain reaction happens. Whole colony finished in 10-15 days.
Gel has no smell. No need to leave house. Completely safe around food area. Just do not wipe the gel dots for 2 weeks.
For entry points and larger areas. We spray around drains, window edges, door gaps, pipe entry points. This spray stays active for 2-3 months. Any roach walking on treated surface picks up chemical and dies later.
Special applicator pushes treatment inside tiny cracks and gaps where roaches actually live. Normal spray cannot reach these spots.
For American cockroaches coming from sewers. We treat around drain openings to stop them entering.
Inspection - 15-20 minutes. We check whole house, find where problem is worst, identify what type of roaches you have.
Treatment - 1 to 2 hours for normal size home. Kitchen takes longest because most roaches are there.
Results - You will notice less activity within 2 days. Full elimination takes about 2 weeks because gel needs time to spread through colony.
